Tom Rouse, ACA
Hearing Instrument Specialist
I have been in the hearing aid business since the 1980s, and I have worked for the only American-based hearing aid manufacturer (Starkey Hearing Technologies) during this time. There I worked in the quality control and customer service departments. Through Starkey’s “Bridge to the Future” Program, I have taught numerous classes to help graduate students from Lamar University, The University of Texas and several other schools transition from the classroom to the field.
In 2007 I transferred from behind the scenes and began testing and fitting hearing aids at NewSound Hearing Aid Centers in San Marcos, TX, where I currently practice. I am also a professional audioprosthologist. I completed my upper level baccalaureate program in Austin, Texas in 2013. I also teach continuing education classes that are required for hearing aid professionals to keep their license current in several states.
I strive to save hearing lives by fitting the most current and appropriate technology to match each patient’s specific lifestyle and needs. In addition, I run NewSound’s Verified Best Speech Clarity procedure to ensure each patient is hearing up to their maximum potential.

I have been in the medical field since graduating in 2014, and entered the hearing aid industry in 2019. I am currently the Patient Service Coordinator and Regional Admin Coordinator, working in the San Marcos and New Braunfels offices with my wonderful providers. It is a blessing to be able to come into work knowing we have the ability to help save hearing lives on a daily basis!
